What Is OHSAS 18001?
The Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series (OHSAS 18001)
has been developed in response to customer demand for a recognizable
occupational health and safety management system standard against
which their management systems can be assessed and certified.
What is F&IU(SM)R?
The Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Safety Management) Regulations
(F&IU(SM)R) released by the Labour Department of the Hong Kong
Government Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) was enacted on
24 November, 1999. The new legislation regularly organizations with
employment over 50 workers in construction sites, shipyards, factories,
and designated industrial undertakings to manage safety and health
through the establishment and implementation of safety management
system (SMS) that has to be assessed regularly by safety audit or
safety review. Utilizing appropriate management tools such as OHSAS
18001 will definitely help local industries in the development and
implementation of their health and safety management systems and
complying with the legislation.
